A tap is simple. Compatibility still matters.
Tangem cards draw power from the phone’s NFC field. There is no card battery to charge and no Bluetooth pairing menu to maintain. That makes the everyday interaction unusually compact: open the app, review the requested action and scan a card when instructed.
Check Tangem’s phone list before ordering. Its support guidance distinguishes devices that can read a card from those that can complete backup creation. Try setup with every card before storing backups apart; do not treat one successful scan as a complete recovery rehearsal.
Your phone is the transaction display.
The card has neither a screen nor physical confirmation buttons. You inspect the address, network, amount and fee in the phone app. That is a different verification model from a Ledger or Trezor with a dedicated screen. Choose it deliberately rather than assuming every hardware wallet offers the same transaction checks.
A supported token does not establish support for every network on which that token exists. Confirm the exact asset and network in the app and the current support list. Integrated buying and swapping are separate services with their own fees and conditions.
Fixed card firmware; a changing mobile app.
Tangem says its card firmware cannot be updated. App updates are separate and can change phone requirements, interfaces and integrations. There is no routine card-firmware installation to arrange, but you still need a supported phone and should read current manufacturer notices.
Choose the backup before the card count.
In a seedless setup, linked cards are access devices for the same wallet. Losing a phone is different from losing every card: a replacement compatible phone can work with a remaining card and the required access credentials. If every card is lost or destroyed and no seed phrase was created, there is no phrase to restore elsewhere.
Two cards give you one spare; three give you two. Extra cards only help when storage avoids a common loss such as one stolen bag. The optional seed-phrase setup changes the recovery arrangement and introduces a secret you must protect. Read its current instructions before choosing; it is not a backup that appears automatically after losing cards.
